On this world environment day, let’s do something to get closer to the environment and adopt sustainability. As a constructive approach, Tech-Towne is an epitome of suitable development and environment conservation. Whether it’s a large open green area, tree plantation, or rainwater harvesting system; eco-friendliness and environment protection remain at the core of planning and development. Taking a step further, we advice the inhabitant of Tech-Towne to adopt small measures for getting closer to nature. Here are some tips for eco-friendly interior design.
1. Use plants as decoration:
Instead of browsing e-commerce for an interior home purifier, one can use plants for interior decoration. Along with beautiful visual presence, they provide oxygen and filter out harmful chemicals from the air. Additionally, they offer natural beauty, ambiance and freshness. Why to go for artificial chemical room freshener that can harm; think of mint or pine’s refreshing scent or flowers with lovely fragrances.
2. Let natural light in:
Only the right light can create a mind-blowing aura by modifying the saturation and visual appeal of the color combination that you have used for your interior design. Always try to maximize the intake of natural sunlight in your home as it’s a natural way for disinfection too. Use insulating glasses on your windows for restricting the hotness, not the visibility. Your bedrooms and bathrooms face north (with less sun) and kitchens and living rooms face the sunnier north.
3. Avoid VOCs:
VOCs or volatile organic compounds are organic chemicals that evaporate at room temperature. Normally, VOCs are present in paints, adhesives, household cleaning and disinfectant products, room fresheners, furniture and carpets. In an enclosed space, a higher concentration of VOCs can harm your health and can possibly cause eye & throat irritation, headaches, nausea, liver damage and even cancer. Try to use eco-friendly certified pains, wood products that contain no added formaldehyde, water-based stains and finishes. Also, keep in mind to use locally available products in your interior designing as there is less associated carbon emission in transportation and manufacturing of that.
4. Use natural textiles, furniture and finishing:
Nature always produces only things that it can decompose and to get closer to nature, try to use the things that finally decompose and not add more volume to existing landfills. Whether it’s about furniture, mattresses, pillows, beddings, decorative articles or any other thing, focus more on eco-friendliness and durability of products. For eg. Pillow with wool, cotton or feather stuffing than synthetics, natural latex than synthetic rubber, jute carpets than mats. Such small things cost huge to the environment.
5. Kitchen garden and waste reduction:
You can also maintain a small kitchen garden if you are available with space or simply grow some veggies in pots. Try to reduce the quantity of waste generation by implementing the principle of reuse and recycle. Avoid using one-time plastic carry bags or other polymer-based things in your kitchen. Collect the organic and inorganic waste separately in the bins and try to decompose the organic waste by using any waste decomposition techniques. You can generate organic manure by this process for your plants in your house. Also, think of giving the maximum of your inorganic waste including e-waste for recycling.
It’s our planet and we call it home. We should try not to damage the interior design of our planet by killing our environment.

It’s not an exaggeration to categorize colors as an international visual language to transmit or communicate through interior design. There is no other way to express it better than just use of colors in designing the facilities and to do that one needs to understand the nature and significance of colors, how colors behave, their character and influence on our mood. Remember! Colors can make or break a space. Choosing an appropriate color for facilities according to space and utility is an important aspect of interior design. Though you’ve hired any designer for your home, the essential knowledge of colors is required. Remember a thumb rule, Warm tones, like red, orange and yellow can energize a space and its occupants. Cool tones such as blue, green and purple generally create quiet, relaxing atmospheres.
Along with the colors, what also effects are shades and lights. All colors change their character when lightness and saturation are adjusted or modified. Light colors are airy and make rooms feel larger and brighter while dark colors are sophisticated and warm, they make rooms feel intimate. Remember this thumb rule, Warm tones, like red, orange and yellow can energize a space and its occupants. Cool tones such as blue, green and purple generally create quiet, relaxing atmospheres.
Behavior of Color
Understanding the behavior of color is quite easy. Normally colors behave in three ways i.e. active, passive and neutral. Neutral colors are black, grey, brown and white that mostly used for maintaining the balance in the décor along with the active and passive shades. Bright colors like Green, Yellow, Red and Orange are termed as active colors as while darker colors including blue, violet, purple etc. are passive colors. Active colors are commonly associated with traits like strength, confidence, enthusiasm, and exuberance. Passive Colors: Passive colors are more neutral and toned-down than active colors. They tend to promote mental focus, and often have a calming effect.
Space can become under-stimulated if it features weak intensities of colors or monotonous color contrasts while highly saturated colors, strong contrasts and complex visual patterns can make an over-stimulated space.
Color- Space Psychology
The color that is used in interior designing and décor has a deep impact on the aura that has been created. Thus it is necessary significant to correctly assess what this ambiance should be before choosing the colors. A living room, for example, needs to be exciting and energizing while a bedroom has to be calming and relaxing.
While selector a color palette for a room, consider the following:
1. If you have pets or small children stay away from white and other colors that are difficult to care for.
2. Colors you pick should either coordinate or contrast. So decide whether you want a relaxing aura or dynamic one. Keep in mind to consider shades and tones.
3. Orange is an energetic color; Yellow is uplifting one; Blue is calming & serene; Purple is rich; dramatic and sophisticated; Green is calm and restful and Red is stimulating.
4. Understanding the psychology of colors, you can choose colors for the spaces accordingly.
Thus, according to the need of the space and your preference, choose colors wisely.

Ignoring Vaastu, the Master bedroom should be at the inner corner so that it should be only accessible by the homeowner where he can rest, relax, and enjoy his life.
2. Theme: Your room must reflect and express your internal desire and a man you are. You need to select a specific theme and color for it to give a personal touch. The theme should match the house interior. It can also vary from the house interior to add more personal aspects.
